Anthony Tangari dies at age 78
Anthony J. Tangari, 78, Topeka, died Thursday, June 5, 2008. In 1960, he was admitted to the Post-Masters Program for Social Work at Menninger and then was appointed to a staff position. He worked as a clinician, supervisor, and consultant, and was on the faculty of the Menninger School of Psychiatry. He was Director of Social Work at Menninger for seven years.
Mr. Tangari was born June 17, 1929, the son of Acheropita and Natale Tangari, Oelwein, IA. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School. He earned a BA degree from the University of Iowa; an MA from the University of Kansas and an MSW from Florida State University. He served in the US Air Force. Upon graduation from Florida State, he was employed at the mental health center, Madison County Health Dept., Huntsville, AL. He married Dolores Mary Doyle on August 11, 1956. She survives. He is also survived by six children.
